Description

The 1939 first edition of John Gunther’s Inside Asia by Hamish Hamilton Publishing has 659 pages. It is about Asian history, major events, and the history of each nation on the continent. Previously John Gunther wrote a book with a similar theme called “Inside Europe”, published in 1936. The book cover is an illustration of the map with some countries listed. However, it was not at all accurate, suggesting that Asia, at the time, was a mystery to the Europeans. Perhaps, the diverse ethnicity and culture cause some confusion to the writer. Hamish Hamilton Ltd is a British publisher founded in 1931 by James Hamilton and Harper from Harpers & Brothers, a New York publisher founded in 1989. Since then, it has become a part of Penguin Books and produced books to this day.
