2018
“His Majesty King Prajadhipok’s Favourite Sport”,
Held between 25 September 2018 – 15 February 2019
At the Temporary exhibition room on first floor, the heritage building, King Prajadhipok Museum.
Sports were one of King Prajadhipok’s joys as he was introduced to them when young due to not having the best of health. His time at Eton College also exposed him to many sports that he was exceptionally talented in, for example, squash, cricket, tennis, golf, etc. His passion for sports persisted into his adulthood; he always made time for sports regardless of how busy he was. He used sports to connect and foster a relationship with dignitaries from other countries and even encourage children in his care to play sports for their health and to nurture sports spirit. King Prajadhipok and Queen Rambhai Barni were patronages of sports clubs such as The Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand, Thailand’s Ladies Golf Association, and Thailand’s Seniors Golf Association.
Collaborating with the Rambhai Barni Rajabhat University, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, and Prajadhipok-Ramphaiphanni Royal Estates, the exhibition presented the story, showcasing sports equipment and clothes relating to King Prajadhipok and Queen Rambhai Barni. It aimed to publicise knowledge and generate interest in taking sports as a hobby.
